It's night time and Selina is playing her locket like a cat. It's a silly kid kind of thing she does, pretending to be a cat from time to time but it's about all she has left of her childhood and so she's not quite ready to give it up. She stops though, when she hears the truck pull up and the people step out.

"You kids hungry? We've got some food." A woman calls out and something about her tone raises the hairs on Selina's scalp. She puts away the locket and steps back slowly, towards the alley. The other kids she was hanging out with step forward as the two adults keep talking. She's just made it to the alley when the first kid collapses on the street and she runs. By the time she's out the other side, a gunshot rings out into the night.

A few days later, and she's camped out at the park, dozing a bit in the afternoon sun. Other kids are around but no one's heard from any of the kids she was with the night before, though rumor has it Mackey is in police custody.

Sudden;y there are sirens and she leaps up, darting into the trees but there is already a cop there. She dives under his arms and between his legs, shoving at his knees as she stands to run, but she has to change direction cause there is another one coming. She runs, using the trees to through off the cops chasing her until she makes the mistake of looking behind her, which means she misses the one who jumps out from behind a tree and grabs her. Before she knows it, she's handcuffed and being dragged towards a police van. She could pick the cuffs, but then she'd be back to running with too many cops around.

She decides to play along and wait for a better chance to escape.

"Name," the bored juvie cop says.

"Ma'am, there's been a mistake," Selina says in her most persuasive voice. "I'm not meant to go upstate. I need to talk to James Gordon. He's a cop."

"You'll be allowed a phone when you get upstate. Name."

"I need to talk to him now," she says more forcefully, knowing it will be too late once she's upstate and in the system.

"Not going to happen," the woman says, annoyed now. "Name."

"Bite me pigarina."

"Jane. Doe." The woman replies and gestures forcefully to the bus.

Selina storms onboard, kicking herself for not making a break for it earlier. She takes an empty seat near the middle of the bus, beside a kid who's crying. She takes a moment to open her locket and look at the picture of her mom for courage before closing it and putting it back in her pocket.

"Hey, relax kid," she says. "Juvie's not so bad. The first week, what ever you do, don't make friends with anyone who's friendly. And when you get into a fight, go for their eyes."

"Hiya kids," a woman's voice calls out that freezes Selina's blood. It's the voice of the woman who drugged the other street kids the other night and she's with the same guy. "Are you ready to go on a big adventure?"

She panics and bolts for the emergency exit of the bus but freezes when the sound of a gun cocking is heard.

~~~~~~~~~
The bus ride is over in a little over an hour. Instead of going upstate, they end up at the wharf, in a warehouse. As the kids exit, Selina dart into an empty seat and crouches down by the floor. The woman steps back on the bus and there is a tense game of cat and mouse, as she hunts and Selina dodges either onto a seat to hide her legs or down in the foot well to avoid being seen from above, until finally, she's out of the bus and rolling under neath it to get away.
She's backing away and is just about sure she's made it when she bumps into someone. He grunts and without even thinking about it, she spins around and claws at his eyes. He screams and she runs but now the woman with the gun knows she's there. She keeps away from the woman, hiding behind the boxes and crates that litter the warehouse, until she climbs up on top of them. Certain she is safe, she leans over a little to follow the woman. Too far as it turns out as her locket falls out of her pocket, alerting the woman to where she is hiding.
"You have been a very naughty girl," the woman says, aiming her gun at Selina, who is sure her life is over. Then the woman is hit over the head with a sap by a man, who knocks her out. Turning, he looks to Selina and says, "Hi. What's you name?"
Selina recognizes the man as Detective Gordon, but still he's a cop and habit takes over, "Why is that any of your business?"
